Recently, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released a "Brief Analysis of Automobile Exports in June 2023". Among them, from January to June 2023, the number of domestic automobile exports reached 2.14 million, a year-on-year increase of 75.7%. Among them, 1.78 million passenger vehicles were exported, 361,000 commercial vehicles were exported, and 534,000 new energy vehicles were exported.
According to the statistical chart of the top 10 exporters of complete vehicles released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the top five self-owned brands with the largest export volume of complete vehicles in the first half of this year are SAIC, Chery, Changan, Great Wall and Geely.
SAIC ranked first with 483,000 exported vehicles, Chery ranked second with 394,000 exported vehicles, Changan ranked third with 178,000 exported vehicles, Great Wall ranked fourth with 124,000 exported vehicles, Geely The export of 121,000 complete vehicles ranked fifth. (Tesla is not its own brand, so this article does not mention Tesla.)
Among them, the export volume of SAIC and Chery is much higher than that of other self-owned brands, and the combined export volume of both parties has accounted for 41% of the total export volume. It is understood that the main overseas market of SAIC Motor is located in Europe. The main export car brand "MG" has sold more than 110,000 vehicles in the European market in the first half of the year. Its MG ZS model has been widely favored by overseas consumers.
As for Chery Automobile, the brand started exporting cars to the Middle East market as early as 2001, and it is the first independent brand in China to export complete vehicles overseas. With the continuous development of the brand, Chery now has a certain influence in the Middle East, Russia, South America and other regions. Its Tiggo 7 model is relatively popular, and its sub-brand "Xingtu Automobile" has also been realized in many overseas countries. Normalization of exports.
What is more interesting is that these popular models in overseas markets do not seem to sell very well in China. For example, the average monthly domestic sales of MG ZS in the first half of this year was only 20-30 units, and the domestic monthly average sales volume of Chery Tiggo 7 in the first half of this year The sales volume is around 3,000-4,000, but the average monthly sales of these cars in overseas markets can exceed 10,000.
Although the BYD brand is far ahead in domestic sales and firmly sits on the throne of "sales champion", its export volume in the first half of this year was only 81,000 vehicles, ranking second to last in the top ten export volume rankings of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
